Speaker Bio

Dr Edward Curry obtained his PhD in Computer Science from NUI Galway in 2006. From 2006-2015 he worked as a post-doctoral researcher and then research fellow at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI). He currently holds a Research Lectureship at the Data Science Institute at NUI Galway. Edward is Co-PI at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics and a funded investigation at LERO. He is the author/co-author of over 180 peer-reviewed scientific publications with contributions to semantic technologies, incremental data management, event processing middleware, software engineering, distributed systems, and information systems. He has led several large-scale collaborative research projects at national and European levels. The technology he has developed with his team fuels many industrial applications, such as energy, water, and mobility management at Schneider Electric, Intel, and DELL Technologies. He was the organizer and programme co-chair of international conferences, including CIKM 2020, ECML 2018, and IEEE BigData Congress. Edward is co-founder and elected Vice President of the Big Data Value Association, an industry-led European big data community.
