About this Event
This annual event welcomes the Class of 2029 into a vibrant culture of civic engagement that spans the greater Harvard community. Students from all class years—as well as alumni—are encouraged to sign up as volunteers.
Last year's projects included organizing supply drives; developing lessons plans, resource guides and curriculum; conducting voter registration drives; organizing social media campaigns on key social concerns (such as environmental advocacy, racial equity and disaster relief); park and neighborhood clean-up projects, helping schools get ready for the upcoming year, working on multimedia and technical projects.
This year’s program will again follow a hybrid format where there will be a mix of locally-based assignments along with all-access projects where volunteers can sign on from anywhere in the world to support a team project.
Harvard's Global Day of Service takes place during first-year orientation on Fri., Aug. 29. Final site details and a full program schedule will be available in mid-August. Most projects are expected to run from 1:00–5:00 pm ET, with a typical time commitment of 2–3 hours.
