Katrina Alcorn is General Manager of Design at IBM, responsible for leading one of the largest design practices in the world. IBM’s 3,000+ designers create software, hardware, brand, and web experiences used by millions worldwide. Katrina’s team is also responsible for IBM’s enterprise design thinking practice which has trained close to 500,000 people inside and outside IBM and is considered the industry gold standard in driving business innovation through human-centered design practices.
While IBM has made great strides by embracing design, there is still much work to be done. In this talk, Katrina will share IBM's history with design, and some of the ways IBM is now reaping the benefits of its investment in design. She will also share the vision she is championing to take design from "pockets of excellence" to "pervasive excellence." And she will also share her own career journey, which has been full of unexpected twists and turns, and somehow led her dream job at IBM.
